Talent Development Programme - The STAR

 

 

YTSS TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME – THE STAR
(STUDENT TALENT ADVANCEMENT & RECOGNITION) PROGRAMME

The STAR Programme aims to identify high ability students when they enter YTSS in
Secondary 1 and develop them to excel in their  all round development in line with the
school’s YTzen Profile of Confident Leader, Active Citizen, Global Thinker. In this programme,
students will be provided with opportunities to integrate learning beyond the curriculum as
well as hone their leadership skills and develop global perspectives. Identified students will
be put on a mentoring scheme to provide guidance to help them develop to be high
achieving individuals. Students will be mentored by either the Principal, Vice-Principals or
Heads of Department. Students who are talented in specific subjects will be identified when
they are in Secondary 1 based on their scores for specific subjects and given opportunities
to further develop their talent in the subject through department based enrichment
programmes and participation in competitions. The STAR Programme includes Problem Based
Learning, Public Speaking Workshop, Tournament of Minds & etc.

 

 

The STAR (Student Talent Advancement & Recognition) Programme includes:

  • Tournament of Minds
  • AEMs
  • SCoPE at Nara, Japan
  • Summer School at Trinity College, Melbourne
